Go Ahead. Just Say It.

It was a gorgeous commute to work this morning.  In the 70's ... beautiful blue sky with a layer of flirty clouds, commanding my attention...it worked...because I snapped this shot at the traffic light:

Sun roof open
Tunes serenading me
Spring abundantly in the air

Fast-forward this...
I'm pulling into my space in the parking garage
and my text alert goes off
I turn off the ignition and grab my cell phone
A text from a friend of mine.
She randomly texts me out of nowhere at times.
I giggled out loud.
Really loud.

Girlfriends!
They can totally make a woman's day.

Accessing RAM

Random access memory.  Key word, random.

Little recalls of random things I wanna mention in my blog.  I must chronicle.

It was 70 degrees outside at 5:15 this morning; same time yesterday, it was 35.

I visited with my aunt on Saturday.  She literally SQUEALED when she saw the cookies and little stained-glass flower I brought her.  Bless her heart.  It filled my need, missing my mom.  I hung the flower in her window, allowing the sun to shine throught the bright pink glass.  She squealed louder.  We BOTH were blessed.

I saw The Great Gatsby Sunday afternoon.  Disappointing.  Not sure what I was expecting, but bottom line, it just didn't do it for me.  I'll give it a 3 on a scale of 10.

I'm over my carb cravings.  The worst part was the first 24 hours -- Monday.  I wanted to chew on everything.  I hallucinated about sugar.  I'm irritable when I'm like that.  People should stay the hell away from me when I'm in detox.  Maybe I should wear a sign of sorts.  Or maybe my grouchy-facade tells it all.  They probably assume it's a case of bad hormones.  I don't need to be around the public on days like that.   And reporting a pro se jury trial didn't help matters ... and the trial's still going!

Haven't been to the gym since Saturday.  I had singing practice with my trio on Monday (I'm the one with the rusty halo), and we had our final Bunco gathering on Tuesday night.  We voted to meet at out at a local restaurant and have dinner together rather than play Bunco.  Good laughs, fun.  I needed it.  Now I just wanna get to the gym and get in a good tension-releasing workout.

The workout on Saturday with my friend went well.  I guess.  It seemed brief to me.  I questioned that she was pushing herself enough.  We did squats, deadlifts, lateral raises, bicep curls and some ab work.  She wanted to start with total body.  Her form was lacking on the squats and deadlifts, and we had to spend a lot of time on perfecting that.  I couldn't get her to keep focused straight ahead on the deadlifts.  She'd drop her head, and as soon as she did, there went her form.  "Look up!  Look up!  Look in the mirror!  Back straight.  Back straight.  Back straight.  Look up!"  Patience, T.  Don't assume anything.  I asked her to report back to me, let me know how she felt 24-48 hours later, so that I'd know "the truth."  I doubted seriously she'd be sore.  We used VERY light weights.  SHE WAS SORE.  (Scratching head here.)  She said her husband had to listen to her whine about it.  (Seriously?)  We will meet again in a week or so and I'll introduce more exercises to her.  She'll work on those in the meantime and keep up her cardio.  It was good.  It was all good.  My new project.

Gotta hit it.  It's beautiful outside, and I wanna drink it in.

Bring on the day.

Shut Up and SQUAT

I'll be leaving for the gym shortly.  I've had morning coffee on the porch, going over emails, listening to the birds, drinking in the beauty of the masses of green all around me -- the trees, the lawn, the budding flowers.  I want to sit here forever!

But there's work to do this morning.  It's leg and butt day at the gym.  Saturday is my most intense gym day, and I don't like to miss it.  It's a privilege for me, not at all a chore.  I'm weird like that.  It's just what I do, I guess.  It's who I am.

We had dinner last night with friends.  She's just recently joined my gym, and she's rather clueless about weight lifting.  She feels intimidated, but she really wants to make changes in her body, drop the weight, tighten up, and start eating healthier.  She's asked for my help.  Well, I'm her woman.  Most obliged, my friend.

watch and learn!

So we made a date.  We are meeting at the gym at 10:30 and she wants me to show her five -- yes, only five, she insisted, fearing information overload -- exercises that she can do this week.  Five.  Hmmm.  Oh, I really don't like limitations.  Don't tell me when to shut up.  Well, on second thought, yeah, maybe I DO need to be told to shut up, because I'd have a tendency to go on and on and on and ... hey, it's what I do.  I love working out.  Weird like that, I guess.

So I'll be showing her five things for legs and butt.  Squats will DEFINITELY be on the list.  Firm and lift thy ass!

Hope she's had a good night's rest.  Get ready to torch it, girlfriend!
